Last Wednesday, Member for Ripon Martha Haylett visited the site to access recent improvements and exciting plans for the future.

The hall’s committee has since been able to fix plumbing, allowing town water on site, and significantly improve the building’s electricity.

Committee president Drew Garraway is thrilled to see the historic site used more often.

“We are upgrading it continuously, we now have town water, after never having it in the hall’s 160 years,” he said.

Transforming from a lesser used space that still has the original flooring and furniture, the committee has envisaged a space for birthdays, home schooling, dinners and music performances.

“The building had the old wires, so we got all of that redone until it was perfect. We have also done outside concrete work but inside the flooring is still fully original, so that is the next part we have to re-do,” Mr Garraway said.

With hopes to upgrade more on the site, he has huge ambitions of even more planned for the future.

“We have paranormal nights, they are really good. People love that. Continuously, there is now something happening everywhere,” Mr Garraway said.

“It puts a massive smile on my face. There is satisfaction as well, because I want every single person to be able to experience what others have experienced in this hall.

“It’s like going back in time, there is nothing modern here. It’s amazing that still to this day, children are doing home schooling, they still have the opportunity to go into the old school and do their homework there. I get great satisfaction out of it being used all the time.”

One of the highly anticipated events hosted at the hall includes the Adelaide Lead Car Rally that took place last weekend.
