Held at the State Sport Centre in Parkville, Savvidis competed in two best-of-three gold medal matches in the 12-13 year old female gi and no-gi events.

After taking a tense opening round on points to put herself on the precipice of victory, Savvidis clinched her first gold medal of the day in her gi competition by winning an evenly matched second round 4-2.

Savvidis had an easier time winning the no-gi competition shortly thereafter, sweeping the first two matches with impressive submission victories.

Instead of the typical knockout tournament format, fellow local competitors Ava and Eva Miller first competed in round robins to qualify for the medal matches in their two events.

After starting her 8-9 year old gi kids competition with a narrow points victory, Emma Miller advanced to the bronze medal match after winning her final round robin contest.

Despite another impressive showing in the bronze medal final, Emma Miller was the unfortunate competitor in an excellent contest, losing by decision.

Ava Miller also advanced to the 8-9 year old no-gi kids bronze medal match after an excellent submission victory but was unable to claim the medal after a points defeat.

Ava and Eva Miller finished fifth in their other competition.
