Held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, the championships have been the premier event on the Australian Jiu Jitsu calendar since its inception in 1996, with this year’s event happening over three days starting on Friday, August 15.

Team Lazaros entered into 10 competitions among the nearly 2800 entries for the event, with some fantastic results across the board.

Bella Savvidis was the team’s most successful competitor, taking home two gold medals thanks to a decision victory in the Girls Gi, Grey, Junior III division and a points win in the Girls No-Gi, Grey, Junior III competition.

Teammates Archie and Indy Mason also took home gold, with Indy winning a competitive final on points to take the ultimate prize.

After finishing fifth in the Juvenile Girls Gi, Blue, Juvenile 2 division, Alayla Savvidis bounced back with a silver medal in the Juvenile Girls No-Gi, Blue, Juvenile 2 competition.

Alayla Savvidis won her semi final with a submission before being bested in the final on points.

Emma Miller also achieved a silver medal, while Mickey Savvidis earned two bronze medals and Harvey Mitchell won a bronze as well.
