It wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Swans in the opening stages of the game, as the Kangaroos were fantastic in conceding just one point in a thorny first quarter.

Newstead made the most of their limited chances, kicking two goals to lead by 11 points at quarter time.

After a disappointing first quarter, it didn’t take long for the Swans to take flight in the second term, exploding for 50 point burst including eight goals to flip the margin in their favour to 27 points.

The Kangaroos managed to compose themselves coming out of half time, holding Natte Bealiba to 3.1 while kicking 2.3 of their own to keep the game competitive as the margin was 31 points at three quarter time.

But the Swans couldn’t be contained forever, bursting out again for another eight-goal quarter in the last term while only conceding three points to balloon the final margin to 79 points.

Mortlock led from the front and was deservingly named among the Swans best players, with his constant goal scoring causing many headaches amongst the Kangaroos defenders.

He was joined by Nathan Holt, Archie Chadwick, Jayden Templeton, Austin McKenzie and Stephen Ross.

Ethan Hein, Angus Mayes, Harrison McGuire, Nicholas Woodman, Ethan Maltby and Alex Murphy were named best players for the visitors, with Mayes and Joel Smith kicking two goals each.
