Savvidis was one of over 2000 entries into the competition held at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre, with all junior events held on Sunday, June 22.

Savvidis entered the competition with some confidence after her display at the Victoria Jiu-Jitsu Championships at the start of the month, coming back from losing her first match to win two gold medals.

The Maryborough local first competed in the Juvenile Girls Gi event, needing two victories to earn the top prize.

She did just that, as Savvidis won the first match in two minutes with a submission before winning the gold medal match with another submission at the tail end of the contest.

Savvidis continued that momentum into the Juvenile Girls No-Gi competition, winning a highly competitive final on points 6-0 to grab her second gold medal.

Fellow Team Lazaros member Cruz Walker also made the trip up to Queensland to compete after also winning gold at the Victorian Championships, but unfortunately for Walker, his opponent was forced to withdraw.
