After a challenging start to their season, the Tigers were keen to reverse their preliminary final loss to the Saints, which ended their 2024 campaign.

The Saints had other plans, flying out of the gates to dominate the first quarter with seven unanswered goals.

For the second week in a row, the Tigers were left goalless in the first term, as the Saints ran out to a 42-point lead at quarter time.

The short interval couldn’t stop Trentham’s momentum in the second quarter, locking up Lexton to one behind while having 11 scoring shots of their own.

Those 11 kicks resulted in five goals for the Saints, having the game effectively wrapped up with a 77-point lead at half time.

After scoring just three points in the first half, the Tigers started to work their way into the match, slotting two goals in the third quarter.

Despite turning their scoring rut around, Lexton were unable to stop the scoring of Trentham, who kicked 6.6 for the term as the margin surpassed three figures at the final break.

The Saints put the finishing touches on an assertive performance with six goals in the final quarter from just seven scoring shots.

To their credit, Lexton continued to fight throughout the last term, rewarded for their efforts with two fourth-quarter goals.

After being limited to two goals against Talbot last week, MCDFNL leading goalkicker James Regan was back amongst the goals, booting six majors while his teammate, Thomas Fuller, did him one better, kicking seven goals in an exceptional performance.

The duo were obvious choices for Trentham's best players, joined by Mitchell Peeler, Taylor Ford, Cooper Webber-Mirkin and Marcus Elderfield.

Tyler Trickey, Thomas McGregor, Lachy Rokebrand, Jeff Debast, Aiden Broughton and Luke Guelen were named in the best players for Lexton, with Trickey, McGregor, Debast and Blaire Ward all contributing a goal.
