Priests enjoy local golf day
The Maryborough Golf Club hosted the annual Ballarat Priests Golf Day on Monday, with Priests from around the state enjoying a putt, chip and chat.

Organised by Frs. Gerry Prunty, Eugene McKinnon and Parish Priest of Maryborough Fr. John Monaghan, a total of 12 golfers took part in the day, with visitors from Melbourne and Bendigo.
After the round was completed, with Frs. McKinnon, Tony Kerin, Greg Trythall and Brian Glasheen being the standout, the group enjoyed dinner alongside Ballarat Bishop Paul Bird.
Prizes supplied by the International Taxation Service, Dellavedova’s, Anthony Pennings, Becks Bedding, Peter Egan Bi-Rite and Phelans Funerals were given to players and visitors.
According to event participant Brian Castanelli, the long-standing event is vital to maintaining the strong bonds in the Ballarat diocese spanning as far as Hamilton and Warrnambool.
“It’s sort of a get together of all the priests especially with each other to relate what they have been doing, how they have been doing it and so on,” he said.
“I always enjoy the dinner, getting together with everyone and see what’s going on with everyone.”
