Newstead suffer 50-goal loss to Natte Swans

Natte Bealiba has continued their dominant start to 2025, making it three wins from three after their commanding 50-goal victory over Newstead.

The Swans took control of the contest immediately, flying out of the gates to take a 19-9 advantage after the first quarter.

Midcourt duo Ella Tranter and Ebony Raven managed to get the ball to Swans sharpshooter Emma Ryan early and often, with Ryan netting 15 in the opening term while teammate Shannae Mills was four from four from the field.

Tayla Gale was the bright spot for the Kangaroos early, making seven goals from nine attempts while Brianna Jury added two goals.

The second quarter was an exhibition in goal shooting as both teams missed only three shots throughout the term.

It was the Swans’ midcourt who produced more chances for their in-form shooters, increasing their lead to 18 after a compelling 21-13 quarter.

Ryan scored 19 and Mills remained perfect from the field with another two goals for the Swans, while Jury was also perfect from her seven attempts and Gale netted six for the Kangaroos.

Natte Bealiba managed to put the game out of reach in the third quarter, continuing their offensive explosion while defenders Bella Westbrook and Ellie Martin cooled Jury and Gale’s momentum to four goals each in a controlling 26-8 third quarter.

Ryan continued to excel as the first option, scoring 23 times while Mills assisted with her passing and shooting, netting three goals.

The Swans kept their foot on the gas in the fourth quarter, blowing out the margin to 50 to come out victorious 90-40.

After the first quarter, Ryan was practically automatic, missing only three shots in 45 minutes of netball to finish with 77 goals after 20 goals in the fourth. Mills also scored four in the final term.

Looking to make the most of the final quarter, Newstead experimented with their positions, particularly in the goal circle.

Emily Cooper made the most of her time as a shooter, scoring six goals from seven attempts while Ruby McNabb netted four.
