MCDFNL Round 9 Netball Preview Maldon v Maryborough Giants
With Trentham travelling to Talbot and Newstead embarking on a tricky away trip to Harcourt, the Maryborough Giants look to gain some ground on the top eight.

However, before they set their sights on other results, they must contend with a Maldon squad fresh off arguably their best performance of the season.
Assisted by the timely return of defender Claire Hamilton, Maldon showcased an improved potency against Newstead, capitalising on early takeaways to lead by five goals at quarter time.
The Bombers battled hard in pursuit of ending their 24-game losing streak, but after taking the lead at half time, the Steaders pulled away in the fourth quarter to extend Maldon’s winless run.
While the Bombers fell away during crunch time, Maryborough flourished in a similar situation against Newstead in their last outing, outscoring their opponents 27-16 in the second half to power themselves to an uplifting victory.
After earning an additional four points due to their round eight bye, the Giants find themselves on the cusp of the top eight, hoping to rack up some victories before their brutal end to the season.
Maryborough midcourters Maddison Smith and Jessie Tolson will look to give shooters Laura McStravick and Bridget Allan some early looks at goal against Maldon’s in-form defensive duo of Hamilton and Emma Webb.
The Bombers’ attacking goal circle also looks to be an intriguing battle, with Maryborough’s Riahni Egan and Jorgia Brown set to match up against Alannah Furmston and Sophie Zammit.
