After a four-game losing skid around the King’s Birthday long weekend break, the Tigers have recaptured the form that powered their impressive 5-0 start to 2026.

Since key defender Sarah Griffin has been ruled out with injury, Eliza Bell, Shanae Hepworth and Cindy Teggerth have stepped up in a reshuffled defensive unit that’s allowed less than 35 goals in Lexton’s last two victories over Newstead and Maryborough.

The shooting tandem of Charlize Kennedy and Rachel Phelan have been equally crucial to the Tigers winning three of their last four matches, averaging an impressive 55 goals a game during that stretch.

While the ladder suggests that Lexton will cruise to a result similar to their 51-30 triumph against Maldon back in round two, the Bombers have been a surprising challenge for fellow finals contenders over the past fortnight.

After an encouraging opening term against Talbot the week prior, Maldon trailed by just two goals at half time of last weekend’s clash with Dunolly before a one-sided third quarter cursed the Bombers to their 30th straight defeat.

Midcourters Rory Baker, Charlotte Harrison and Claire Kelly have helped shooters Sophie Zammit and Alannah Furmston boost their scoring in recent weeks, determined to maintain that offensive groove against the Tigers.
