It wasn’t for the faint of heart, but the Magpies were rewarded for months of hard work and determination with a come from behind victory against Maldon.

As their team returned from three-quarter time trailing by a goal, shooters Claire Jones and Millie King showed the composure of a tandem that’s won hundreds of A grade games. Assisted by some excellent feeds from Peyton McMillan and Heni Moeke, Jones and King powered the Magpies past the Bombers with 13 goals in the fourth quarter.

Now the objective for Campbells Creek is to carry last weekend’s momentum into an encouraging final stretch like they did last year. Alongside two tight defeats to Lexton and Navarre, the Magpies won two of their last five games in 2025, including a 51-34 victory against Harcourt.

The Lions will be a tougher test this weekend, returning from their round 12 bye boasting a three-game win streak.

While Morgan Howorth, Laura Suckling and Carly Chaplin continue to be a challenging conundrum for opposing attackers, shooters Jarrenhy Webb and Jordan Bagley have flourished in recent weeks, averaging 43 goals in their last three matches.

As they prepare to defend Harcourt’s excelling attack, Campbells Creek could be compelled to keep Taylah Sartori in defence after she did an outstanding job leading that unit against Maldon.
