Maryborough Town Hall is open for use

With the reopening of the Maryborough Town Hall, parts of the facility are now available to be booked for community use.

The town hall reopened earlier in the year following extensive upgrades to its electrical systems and emergency lighting, funded through the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Com-munity Infrastructure program.

While council plans to continue restoring the hall, it is now open to the public and in active use for monthly council meetings, which are also open to community members.

While the Central Goldfields Shire Council is continuing to advocate for funding to continue works at the hall, mayor Grace La Vella said the facility is well and truly open for community use.

“The main and lower halls in the Maryborough Town Hall can be booked for community use,” she said.

“Council meetings continue to be held in the upstairs Council Chamber once a month and are open for community to attend.

“We are advocating for the funding we need to deliver short-term projects including roof replacement, reinstatement of the stage curtains and upgrades to lighting and heating.”

Community members wanting to book the Maryborough Town Hall are able to do so through council’s customer service team on 5461-0610 or online at www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/venuehire
