Lodge to mark 100 years
The Carisbrook Masonic Lodge will celebrate a historic milestone, and the end of an era, as members gather to mark its 100th anniversary on Saturday.
The lodge marks its 100th year tomorrow, where hundreds have been inducted into, attended and continued their Masonic duties at the Masonic Temple, the old court house, at 25 Bucknall Street, Carisbrook.
All current and past members have been invited to attend Saturday’s festivities as well as members of the public.
The Grand Master, Peter Henshell will be in attendance accompanied by the Grand Lodge Ceremonial Team.
A 60-year service jewel will be presented to John Stewart, with celebrations to also include a history of the lodge, traditional poetry and afternoon tea.
Following these celebrations, The Carisbrook Lodge and St George Lodge (which meets at Dunolly) will combine to form a new lodge. This is due to falling memberships in both lodges and increasing overhead costs.
The new lodge, to be called The Welcome Stranger Lodge No.18, will install its new master, John Melton at 4 pm, with members of the public invited to witness rituals performed by the Grand Lodge Ceremonial Team.
A banquet will be held at the Carisbrook Senior Citizens Hall following the celebrations and bookings can be made on Trybooking.com at a cost of $40 per head or $75 for a couple.
