The house is hosting a wholesome, traditional gathering with hot food to encourage locals out of hiber-nation.

MCH's events officer Jo Carter said the Winter Warmer Luncheon is a chance for people to socialise during a colder and quieter time of year that has people not wanting to come out as much.

“We are literally creating a whole banquet,” she said.

“You get a choice of soup for the day. There will be a cream of chicken soup, vegetable soup, and lamb on the side for those who eat meat, pumpkin soup, bread rolls, and muffins at the end.

“Also, we always have an option for gluten free people.”

Between meals, the house will run a range of winter themed activities including bingos, ice breakers and trivia quizzes.

Winter themed door prizes will also be given out on the day, along with prizes drawn from a raffle.

“It’s all about meeting other people and keeping warm instead of sitting in your own very small space alone,” Ms Carter said.

This is one of a series of events hosted at MCH made possible by funding from Bendigo Bank.

The Winter Warmer luncheon follows the popular Harmony Day event earlier this year, with a horse racing event to follow in November.

With bookings already flowing in, MCH advises those who wish to attend to book in advance.

“Bookings are open, we have a maximum of 50 people, anyone can give us a call or let us know on Facebook if they are interested in coming,” Ms Carter said.

MCH’s Winter Warmer Luncheon is on Wednesday, July 22 from 11:30 am until 1 pm. Entry is $5 per person.

Bookings can be made by calling 5461-4551 with RSVP before July 15.
