Hundred Faces set to open
Returning for its sixth year the One Hundred Faces exhibition brings local artists and their work together for a celebration of community.

Talbot’s Playing in the Attic will be hosting the works of 35 artists, five of whom for the first time, from across the Goldfields region.
The exhibition of faces, with many interpretations of the theme, will begin with a grand opening on Saturday, April 26 at 2 pm and will run through to the end of May.
Attendees can expect to see a patchwork of 10 x 10 cm artworks across mediums displayed like a quilt filling Playing in the Attic’s window.
Store owner and exhibition curator Trudy McLauchlan said the theme of faces naturally draws people to the exhibition.
“I think if you are walking past somewhere that has one hundred faces to your left you’re going to stop and look,” she said.
“We are human. We want to stop and look at faces I think.”
Beyond the theme, however, is the works’ reflection of the artist, particularly of those who return year on year. Ms McLauchlan finds their experiences and growth end up reflected in their work.
“The artists are excited by what they created and I love that moment when they either walk through the shop door or we meet up somewhere and I get given their artwork,” she said.
“One artist’s work will change from one year to the next.”
Saturday’s grand opening will offer attendees a chance to get an insight into the artists world through conversations with those behind the works.
“It’s always fantastic for the artist to have people say ‘oh I just bought this one’ and then you can actually have the chance to talk to the artist about their work,” she said.
The works will be up for individual sale throughout the exhibit with something for everyone in both subject matter and price.
