Harcourt fire on all cylinders in 108 point win at home
Harcourt has made a clear statement of intent, defeating fellow 2024 preliminary finalist Lexton by 108 points after a dominant second-half performance.

HARCOURT 20.22 (142) def LEXTON 4.10 (34)
Both teams came out of the changerooms strongly in the opening quarter, and it looked like it would be a tight contest to start the 2025 campaign.
Despite having seven more scoring shots, the Lions were limited to two goals in the first term courtesy of the Tiger's pressure,
who scored two of their own as the Lions had to settle for a seven-point lead.
The Lions started to find their vicious bite after the break, proving much more clinical in the second quarter. The hosts scored 6.4 while Lexton seemed to catch the inaccuracy bug Harcourt had in the first quarter, kicking 1.4.
That gave the Lions a more comfortable 37-point lead heading into the second half, but it seemed Harcourt wasn’t satisfied with their first-half performance.
The Lions seemed to turn it on for the home crowd in the third quarter, limiting the Tigers to three behinds while having 10 scoring shots.
Despite their inaccuracy issues, the Lions' five goals built an insurmountable 69-point lead heading into the last quarter.
Harcourt seemed to save their best for last, scoring 46 points to seven in the final term to blow the margin out to triple figures and prove they will again be contenders in 2025.
2024 MCDFNL Team of the Year member Cameron Anderson displayed why he’s one of the league’s best, leading the way for the Lions alongside Thomas Walters, recruits Geoffrey Jolly and Jack Threlfall, Baxter Gurd, and Joshua Hogg.
Captain Walters also made his mark in front of goal for the Lions, kicking three goals while Gurd and Kristian Bruce also scored three.
Matthew Smith-Bye, Aiden Broughton, Tyler Trickey, Thomas McGregor, Lachy Rokebrand, and Adrian Verhoeven were named as Lexton’s best players in the defeat, as they will look to pick themselves up against Maldon next weekend.
