Freemasons continue fundraising for schools
Local Freemasons that form the Central Goldfields Masonic Group are again planning to sponsor a large number of Primary School scholarships.

In 2024 schools from a wide area covering Amphitheatre to Castlemaine and Wedderburn to Clunes were offered one scholarship to a year six student who the principal and year six teacher choose as worthy of encouragement.
Funds for these scholarships come from a variety of sources including the ‘Day of Unity’ that has become an annual event in Maldon following the ‘Parade of Values’ at Australia’s longest running Easter Monday parade, and the annual Charity Night that the Maryborough Highland Society conduct for this cause.
While the Maldon event (which St George lodge of Dunolly assists to run) proved very successful, the Community Support Night is due to be held on Friday, June 27. A presentation night will follow two weeks later at the Highland Society.
This should prove a memorable night with a tribute to both the Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly where there is no charge for entry.
Beneficiaries of the Charity Night are provided with the proceeds of the Friday Night Raffles held during Happy Hour (starting at 5.30 pm) and meals are available if you make a booking.
Raffle tickets can be purchased online at the Highland Society’s website, with locals encouraged to get friends together and book a table for the evening.
