Eagles soar with 46-point victory over Giants
A six-goal fourth quarter barrage allowed the Dunolly Eagles to swoop past the Maryborough Giants by 46 points.

With both teams desperate to leave Deledio Reserve with a victory, scoring opportunities were limited in the first quarter, however, the Eagles and Giants made the most of their limited chances.
As the dust settled on an intriguing first term, it was the Giants who were in the drivers seat with a one-goal lead.
Not to be outdone, Dunolly were keen to get their beaks in front when play resumed, dominating the second quarter with 10 scoring shots to two.
Despite their superiority, the Eagles only led by 12 points at half time after kicking 3.7 to 1.1 in the second quarter.
Determined to make the hosts rue their missed opportunities, the Giants regained their form after the main break, creating a tense atmosphere in the third quarter.
The game seemed destined for a climactic finish as Dunolly entered three quarter time with a 13-point buffer after both teams kicked two goals for the term.
However, the final quarter would be a one sided affair.
After pecking holes through the Giants defensive infrastructure all game, the dam wall finally busted for the Eagles, flooding in with six goals in the final term to drown the Giants’ chances of an elusive victory.
With round five hero Mitchell Goodwin held to one goal on Saturday, Jay McDonald, Bailey Wingrave, Dylan Burt and Daniel Trull all stepped up for the Eagles, kicking two goals each.
Dylan Brut and Trull were named in Dunolly’s best players along with Hunter McDonald, Ryan Burt, Lachlan Watson and Adal Zuk.
Former Maryborough Magpie Matthew Johnston continued his good form, listed in the Giants’ best players with two goals.
He was joined by Mitch Stork, who also kicked two goals, Peter Wytkamp, Kaylab Eggers, Seth Hoskin and Sam Spink.
