The Bombers were still in the game at half time against the Eagles and only trailed by 20 points, but let themselves down in the second half when they could only score one more goal for the game while the Eagles kicked away to a 71-point victory.

Dunolly had the majority of play in the opening term and capitalised on their strong opportunities.

The first goal of the game came at the seven-minute mark when Kallum Scheppers intercepted a Natnael McLaren kick out from full back and kicked truly.

The Eagles then kicked the next three goals of the term through, Ryan Burt, Lloyd Needs and Bailey Wingrave.

The ball only went into the Bombers forward 50 once for the term which was just before quarter time. It resulted in a goal to Bailey Brown and the Eagles led by 24 points at the first change.

Maldon started to gain some momentum in the second quarter and took the opportunity to claw their way back into the game.

Goals from Ash Woodman, McLaren, Mitch Colston and Brown had them just five points behind at the 19-minute mark of the quarter.

However, the Eagles responded with goals to Scheppers and Joel Fisher to lead by 20 points at half time.

The remainder of the game was controlled by the Eagles who were running the ball through the lines.

Eagles ruckman Ryan Burt had a great battle with Maldon’s Noah Thompson, while Adal Zuk created many attacking moves with his run and pinpoint use of the ball.

Up forward Scheppers finished the good work with four goals.

Dunolly kicked the final five goals of the game, keeping Maldon to just one behind in the final term.

The Eagles remain in seventh and have the potential to move into sixth next week when they play Avoca who are coming off a massive defeat at the hands of Natte Bealiba.

Dunolly named their better players as Dylan Burt, Daniel Trull, Scheppers, Dylan Bray, Wingrave and Zuk.

Maldon named their better players as Thompson, Coby Bennett, Ash Davies, Woodman, Max Johns and Damien Wust.
