2026 MCDFNL Netball Round 8 Preview — Trentham vs Campbells Creek
Riding high on back-to-back victories, Trentham will attempt to make it three on the trot against a Campbells Creek side determined to capture their first victory.
As they attempted to protect a two-goal half time lead, the Saints displayed a new level of offensive proficiency against one of the competition’s most formidable defensive units in Harcourt.
After averaging 28 goals in their first four games, Trentham poured on 29 in the second half against the Lions, cementing their place inside the top eight with an 11-goal victory.
The catalyst to Trentham’s attacking uptick was the debuting trio of Emily McDonald, Georgia Fearn and Hannah Weier. While McDonald made an immediate impact in the midcourt, Fearn played an excellent supporting role to Weier, who netted 34 shots in just three quarters.
If that trio can build upon their dazzling debut alongside Sharna Ford while Jessica Walker, Lauren Girvan and Madelyne Brennan marshal a top-performing defence, the Saints could make some noise come September.
The Magpies will try to ensure Trentham don’t count their chickens before they hatch as they look to improve following their heavy round seven defeat to Carisbrook.
Amongst the rubble of their 70-goal defeat, some silver linings came in the fourth quarter, as Taylah Sartori, Molly Kennedy and McKenna Wynveen managed to contain the Redbacks’ superb offence.
With their team looking to build upon last weekend’s encouraging ending, the likes of Reagan Fulford, Heni Moeke and Mia Martin will likely be called upon to give the Magpies an offensive spark early.
