2026 MCDFNL Netball Round 3 Preview — Dunolly vs Campbells Creek
Dunolly will attempt to maintain its pristine start to 2026 when they welcome Campbells Creek to Deledio Reserve.
While the Eagles haven’t had the toughest opening schedule imaginable, that shouldn’t discredit the improvements they have showcased in the first two rounds.
After ranking 11th in goals conceded last season, allowing on average 62 goals a game, the Eagles have shut down Maldon and Harcourt to 24 and 31 goals respectively in their opening two matches.
It was a bold decision to break up the superb defensive partnership of Ashlee Lierich and Lara Clements during a tight contest against the Lions last weekend, but it paid off massively.
While Teagan Hovey, Leah Davis and Ruby Lang maintained Dunolly’s rock-solid defence, Clements provided reliable scoring alongside Chloe Goodwin and Hannah Kenny with 16 goals from 20 attempts to lead the Eagles to a six-goal victory.
Campbells Creek will attempt to prevent Dunolly from making a 3-0 start after a commanding 86-24 defeat to Talbot.
The Magpies did have some promising patches throughout the contest, especially in the first quarter, but they will need to be more consistent if they are to get a result against a white-hot Eagles squad.
Sunday’s encounter will be filled with some extra intrigue after nothing could separate the Magpies and Eagles in their round nine encounter last season.
With the two teams tied at 20 apiece at half time, Dunolly boasted a two-goal advantage at the final change before Campbells Creek clawed back for a 38-38 draw.
