2026 MCDFNL Football Round 8 Preview — Natte Bealiba vs Harcourt

With their first victory of 2026 under their belt, Natte Bealiba looks to start its ascension back up the MCDFNL table. However, their first climb will be an extremely testing adventure through a lion’s den as they take on the undefeated Harcourt.

Thanks to seven fourth-quarter goals, the Swans lifted the losing weight off their wings with a relieving 23-point victory over Maldon last weekend.

Boosted by the return of former MCDFNL Team of the Year member Jai Howell from injury, Natte showed an elite level of ball winning and disposal efficiency we have come to expect from the perennial contenders for extended patches.

While defeating Maldon is a clear step in the right direction, Harcourt is a completely different animal, currently the league’s ladder-leaders after knocking off both of last season’s Grand Final participants in back-to-back weeks.

With Billy Quirk, Mark Noonan and Jordan Gartside all having excellent seasons in the backline and the likes of Cameron Anderson, Mitchell McKnight, Jack Threlfall and Braydon Vaz among several players who can alter a match with their boots, the Lions are currently the team to beat in 2026.

However, the Swans have dominated the rivalry over the past two seasons, winning four of the last five meetings including a blockbuster 2024 preliminary final which ended Harcourt’s three-peat aspirations.

After a game-saving tackle from Archie Chadwick and Brayden Mills allowed them to take victory in their regular-season meeting, Natte was once again Harcourt’s grim reaper in last year’s semi-final, surviving a furious comeback to win by eight points.
