2026 MCDFNL Football Round 8 Preview — Lexton vs Avoca
Lexton return from the bye this weekend looking to continue their improving form, while Avoca will be aiming to build momentum after an encouraging victory over Dunolly.
The Tigers had the week off following their strong 39-point win against Dunolly, a performance that showcased their ability to respond after a heavy defeat to Talbot the previous round.
Lexton’s midfield pressure and cleaner ball movement proved the difference, particularly during a dominant second quarter where they took control of the contest.
Jaxon Thomas was outstanding up forward for the Tigers, finishing with seven goals in a match-winning display.
Austin Corliss, Henry Marshman and Aiden Broughton also impressed as Lexton secured an important confidence-boosting victory.
Avoca, meanwhile, produced one of their better performances of the season in defeating Dunolly by 51 points. The Bulldogs looked dangerous going forward throughout the afternoon, with Jordan Thomas booting five goals and Alex Riches adding four in a strong attacking display.
Daniel Howell, Scott Cawthan and Toby Beavis were also influential for the Bulldogs, while their ability to generate repeat scoring opportunities was a major improvement on some of their earlier performances this season.
This shapes as an important clash for both clubs, with each side looking to build consistency heading into the middle stages of the year.
