2026 MCDFNL Football Round 7 Preview — Carisbrook v Campbells Creek
After suffering their first loss of the season, Carisbrook looks to return to winning ways when they host a visiting Campbells Creek.
With the aerial surveillance of long-serving ruckman Jackson Bowen and standout performances from Elliot Brandon-Jones, Andrew Toan and James Allan, the Redbacks did a tremendous job restricting Harcourt to 56 points in last weekend’s blockbuster.
Yet that effort didn’t provide the desired outcome, as the Lions held Carisbrook to nine scoring shots, resulting in a bitter 22-point defeat.
The absence of vice-captain Harry Butler was a serious blow, allowing the Lions to focus more attention on leading goalkicker Tim Rinaldi and forcing the versatile Brady Neill to spend more time up forward to give the Redbacks another target inside 50.
As a rematch with fellow contenders Talbot looms in round eight, Carisbrook looks to rebuild its confidence against a Campbells Creek team still riding high on self-belief after snapping their 55-game losing streak a fortnight ago.
That belief was evident in their 65-point defeat to Navarre last Saturday, with Jack Larkin, James Haber, Dylan and Mitchell Stevens ensuring the Magpies weren’t overrun in the contest.
Even without the presence of leading goalkicker Jesse Presser, who’s already become a valuable contributor after joining from Watsonia, Campbells Creek maintained a presence on the scoreboard with five goals in the second half.
After going goalless in their meeting with the Redbacks last season, the Magpies will look to replicate last weekend’s second-half flourish at Carisbrook Recreation Reserve.
