2026 MCDFNL Football Round 4 Preview — Harcourt vs Avoca
This shapes as one of the most intriguing clashes of the round, with ladder leaders Harcourt set to host a resurgent Avoca outfit fresh off a confidence-boosting win.
Harcourt have been in ominous form to start the season, backing up a strong opening round with a dominant performance over Dunolly. Their ability to pile on scores — while also restricting opposition opportunities — has been a standout.
With the likes of Jed Rodda and Braydon Vaz providing serious firepower up forward, the Lions have looked every bit a premiership contender.
Their midfield depth and ball movement have also been key, allowing them to control territory and keep constant pressure on opposition defences.
Avoca, however, come into the contest with plenty of belief after their thrilling one-point win over Maldon. It was a performance built on resilience, with the Bulldogs fighting back from an early deficit and holding their nerve under late pressure.

The key for Avoca will be their ability to match Harcourt’s midfield output. If they can limit supply to the Lions’ dangerous forwards and make the most of their own opportunities going inside 50, they can apply scoreboard pressure and keep things interesting.
