2026 MCDFNL Football Round 2 Preview — Maldon vs Lexton
Lexton travels to Bill Woodfull Reserve this Saturday looking to bounce back from a disappointing round one loss to Maryborough Giants, while Maldon returns home brimming with confidence after an impressive Good Friday victory over Dunolly.

Recent meetings between the two suggest this could be a tight contest. Lexton claimed a 35-point win at home in 2025, but Maldon responded later in the season with a 14-point victory on their own turf.
While both sides have seen changes, several key contributors remain.
For Maldon, Callum Buchanan, Cody Bennett, and Ash Woodman have all had a strong influence in past encounters, while coach Damian Wust continues to lead from the front.
Bailey Brown shapes as a major threat after kicking six goals last round and will again be central to the Bombers’ attack.
Lexton, however, has plenty of firepower of its own. Aiden Broughton’s style suits the tighter confines of Maldon, while recruit Luke Madden impressed in round one and will be keen to build on that performance.
The return of Tom Cullinan adds physical presence, and Patty Parr, typically a reliable scorer, will be eager to respond after being held goalless last week, a rare occurrence given he failed to score just three times across the entire 2025 season.
With high expectations entering the year, Lexton will be desperate to respond, but with momentum, confidence, and home ground advantage, Maldon appears the team to beat in what shapes as a closely fought contest.
